Dragoons, Chiricahuas, Cochise, Tombstone…names that hark back to the Old West. All are associated with the lands that now make up the Coronado National Forest. The Coronado totals almost 2 million acres in 12 units, mountain ranges that rise like islands from a sea of desert sand. This map presents 3 of those sky island units, the Dragoon, Chiricahua, & Peloncillo ranges which lie in the southeastern corner of Arizona & southwestern corner of New Mexico. Included are the Dragoon, Little Dragoon, Chiricahua, Pedregosa, and Peloncillo Mountains, San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area, Chiricahua Wilderness, Chiricahua National Monument, Fort Bowie National Historic Site, St. David, Tombstone, Gleeson, Pearce, Sunsites, Portal, & Rodeo.
This map provides information on fire, forest road, & OHV safety, the Leave No Trace program, route markers, road closures, bears, travel precautions, the Chiricahua Mountains, Chiricahua NM, & Fort Bowie NHS. Also included are a table of Forest Service Recreation Sites & an Index to Topographic Maps (7.5′ series). The map also displays color photos of points of interest & activities.

The map covers the ranger district of the Coronado NF which is closest to the AZ-NM border, & the scale is generally ½ inch per mile (1:126,720).
